Today is the day of the Fancy Fanatic, a local 1500 point tournament. It's part of the build up for the 2500 point Fanatic tournament that will be hosted in May, an encouragement for all players to get to painting their armies early and a boon for local players who want to enjoy each other's company. The "fancy" bit means we'll have a smart dress code, nerdy as though it may be, as well as catering and lots of spirits for the later games at night (it's 18 years or older).
This year we're doing a team tournament since that has been popular with local players recently, with teams of three members each playing one on one. Prior to each battle, we roll a dice where the winning team puts forth one of their generals. The losing team then picks two of their players from whom the winning team gets to select the matchup for the general they put forth. Then it's the other teams turn until all three matchups have been decided. I'm really looking forward to this!
